As you can see to some of the nouns you cannot put A or AN in front of it.

WHY? 

Because you cannot count it -> You cannot count water, bread or sugar

-> UNCOUNTABLE NOUNS

Uncountable nouns

You cannot count them, but you can give them a 'container' to make them countable!

-> 3 glasses/bottles of water

-> 2 tablespoons of sugar

-> 4 cups of coffee

- You can put a or an in front of

- You can count them (1 house - 3 houses)
