Voorbeeld: Mari was eating lunch.

(+) Bevestigend: I was walking home = Ik liep naar huis.

• They were writing their friend a letter = Zij schreven hun vriend een brief

(-) Ontkennend: I was not walking home = Ik liep niet naar huis.

(?) Vragend: Was I walking home = Liep ik naar huis?
