A - result/completion of the action 

B - process/duration of the action

C - how many times the action has happened

D - temporary/incomplete action 

Red is a present perfect simple/present perfect continuous

Green is a present perfect simple/present perfect continuous

1. I have painted the walls, look at all the colours!

Focus on the result --> colourful walls 

2. I have been painting the walls, really sorry for the mess!

Focus on process and duration --> in process of painting = a mess

3. I have painted a bedroom three or four times.

Focus on how many times --> 3/4 times 

4. Lately, I have been painting a lot of walls.

Focus on temporary action --> ''lately'' = de laatste tijd/dagen
