Explanation - There are many pens in the picture, but there is only one green pen. Because there is only one, it's THE green pen.

We gebruiken 'the' als we het over een specifiek voorwerp hebben, dus niet zomaar een pen, maar de groene pen.

Explanation - There are 10 pens in the picture, one of them is in the front. The pens are all the same, and because there are so many, we say a.

Het maakt niet uit welke pen je bedoelt, want ze zijn allemaal hetzelfde.
