• each group will perform one action
• when the student comes back in, they will have to memorize what the groups were doing. (10 seconds)

so when do we use the past continuous?

• verleden
• duurde langer  

what about the past simple?

• verleden
• afgerond
• de onderbreking

past continuous -> om te zeggen dat iets in het verleden een tijd duurde of lager aan de gang was, maar wel is afgerond.

past simple -> als iets in het verleden gebeurd en afgerond is.

two weeks ago, there was a bank robbery.

inside the bank were:

 

• two robbers 
• an undercover police officer,
• a grandma with her grandchild, 
• two businessmen 
• a bank employee.

you are going to make up the story of how this went.

Inside the bank are two robbers, a grandma with her grandchild, a woman who works at the bank, a businessman and an undercover police officer.

Make up the story of what happened when the robbers entered the bank. What were each of these people doing? What did the robbers do?

you will get ten minutes to discuss and to write something down. 

afterwards i will pick two groups to tell the group their story.

in pairs discuss;

• what were these people doing when the robbers entered?
• what happened next?
• how did it end?

You will get 10 minutes to make up a story and write it down. I will ask some groups to share their stories.
