Some/Any

When do you use SOME?

• In positive statements/ Positieve argumenten/Bevestigende zinnen.
• When you offer something/Wanneer je iets aanbiedt.
• In questions when you expect the answer is: 'Yes'.

For example: 

Would you like some bread? Yes, I would.

I brought you some bread. Bevestigend.

When do you use ANY?

• In questions.
• In negative sentences/Negatieve zinnen/Ontkennende zinnen.

For example: 

Do we have any bread in the house?

I don't want any bread.

somebody / anybody = iemand                                        not … anybody= niemand

I haven't seen anyone. (Ontkennend)

somewhere / anywhere= ergens                                    not … anywhere= nergens

Do you want to go somewhere? (Vragend)

3. Is there something / anything I can do to help you?

4: He lives somewhere / anywhere in Scotland.
