Will look shiny and can smell
Very white scalp. May be white flakes on the scalp
Visible product build up.
Scalp can look dry, flaky or oily.

Sebaceous glands
These are the glands in the skin that secrete oil. 

If you client has oily hair, they could have over active sebaceous glands.

How shampoo cleanses the hair
  1. Water and shampoo mix together on the hair.
  2. The hydrophilic head is drawn to the water and the hydrophobic tail is drawn to the oil.
  3. This creates a push and pull effect on the oil and dirt, lifting it from the hair and scalp.
  4. The dirt then becomes part of the lather and is removed when you rinse the hair.
