          The hamburger model 
  • The first sentence of your body paragraph should be the idea that you want to dicuss within that same paragraph --> the topic sentence
  • Use it as a guide in writing the next sentences. 
  • Stick to the point. Make sure that you write only what needs to be written. 
  • Don't clutter your sentences skip any irrelevant information
  • The supporting sentences provide examples and/or evidence and provide specific information. 
  • The conclusion sentence restates what you claim in the topic sentence.

Topic sentence
- The topic sentence is usually the first sentence in the paragraph.
- The topic is about one idea (the main idea)
- It is fairly broad so it can be expanded on in the rest of the paragraph.
- It helps the reader understand what the paragraph will be about.

Supporting sentences
Supporting sentences follow the topic sentence and support the main idea.
They relate only to the topic of the paragraph.
They can also give examples and explanations and may provide facts and details about the topic of the paragraph.

Concluding sentence
A concluding sentence ends a paragraph. It restates the main idea of the paragraph and gives the reader a clue of what is to come.
