Ontkennende zin	They weren't working yesterday.
Vragende zin	Was she complaining all day yesterday?

Wanneer er twee acties in één zin worden beschreven.

De 'lange' actie wordt onderbroken door de 'korte' actie.

Lang = past continuous

kort = past simple

I was reading a book when the doorbell rang

He was taking a shower when the water went cold.

Wanneer	als iets vóór iets anders gebeurd is in het verleden
Hoe	had + voltooid deelwoord (ww+ed/3e rijtje)
Bevestigende zin	I had closed the window before it started to rain.
Ontkennende zin	They hadn't finished eating when she came home.
Vragende zin	Had he painted the door before he sold the house?

First & Second conditional (if sentences)

First conditional

If + present simple  +  will + hele werkwoord

If I cycle in the sun, I will get sun burned. 

We gebruiken de first conditional voor iets wat waarschijnlijk gaat gebeuren

Second conditional

If + past simple  +  would + hele werkwoord

If I won the lottery, I would travel the world. 

We gebruiken de second conditional voor iets wat waarschijnlijk NIET gaat gebeuren
