Uitzonderingen

Reflexive pronouns gebruik je niet na werkwoorden als wash, dress en shave, tenzij je nadruk wilt leggen op wie het doet. 

(Deze werkwoorden gaan over acties die mensen meestal voor zichzelf doen)

Reciprocal pronouns gebruik je niet na werkwoorden als hug, marry en kiss.

(Deze werkwoorden geven al aan dat de handeling van beide kanten komt.

Reflexive pronouns

Het wederkerend voornaamwoord verwijst 

naar de persoon die het onderwerp is.

Reciprocal pronouns

Wederkerige vnw. verwijzen naar meer personen die dezelfde activiteit uitvoeren.

They talk to one another.
