Grammar 10 - Articles - the, a & an

Lidwoorden in het Engels noem je ‘Articles’. In het Engels heb je ‘the/ a / an’.

Je gebruikt ‘the’ voor een specifiek persoon/ dier/ ding.

- The president gave a speech. - The book is on the table.

Je gebruikt ‘a’ en ‘an’ voor dingen die NIET specifiek zijn. 

• Je gebruikt ‘a’ voor woorden die beginnen met een medeklinkerklank. 

- It looks like a palace. - she’s wearing a uniform. (spreek je uit als Juniform) 

• Je gebruikt ‘an’ voor woorden die beginnen met een klinkerklank. 

- It took us an hour (spreek je uit als our). - We live in an appartement.

b, c, d, f, g, h, j, k, l, m, n, p, q, r, s, t, v, w, x en z

Klinkers:

a, e, o, u, i 

Grammar 10 - Articles - the, a & an

Lidwoorden in het Engels noem je ‘Articles’. In het Engels heb je ‘the/ a / an’.

Je gebruikt ‘the’ voor een specifiek persoon/ dier/ ding.

- The president gave a speech. - The book is on the table.

Je laat 'the' weg als je over een persoon/ding/dier in het algemeen praat.

- The plants need watering (specifieke planten) 

- Plants need watering (planten over het algemeen)

Soms gebruik je 'the' niet bij de volgende woorden:
hospital, church, school, prison, university

b, c, d, f, g, h, j, k, l, m, n, p, q, r, s, t, v, w, x en z

Grammar 11 - Imperative

Je gebruikt de ‘imperative’ als je zegt dat iemand iets moet doen.  
Dit kun je gebruiken als bevel, waarschuwing, advies of aanwijzing.

Voorbeelden:

• Cross the roads 
• Clean your room 
• Read the signs
  
• Be careful 
• Watch your step 
• Turn right

Om te zeggen dat het niet moet, gebruik je ‘don’t’ voor het werkwoord.

• Don’t yell at your mother. 
• Don’t read the signs. 
• Don’t open the window.

• Exercise 30 match the words
  a. Verbinden de woorden met de juiste lidwoorden. - c. Omcirkel de juiste antwoorden.
• Exercise 31 write the sentences
  Zet de zinnen in de juiste volgorde. Gebruik de juiste lidwoorden in de zinnen.

• Exerise 32 write the sentences
  c. Bekijk de foto’s en maak bijpassende zinnen. Gebruik de ‘imperative’.

• Exercise 33 fill in
  Je gaat een feestje organiseren. Wat moet je wel en wat niet doen? Gebruik de woordjes om zinnen van te maken, gebruik de gebiedende wijs.
