When do you use the plural form?

In a sentence;​

When there is a number before the noun (z.n.w) “Two….....”, "Twelve....."​

“These/ Those .................. are..”  

               

Words like: some/ a few/ several/ a couple of/ isn’t any/ no 

“I like  …...........”

Forming Plurals : 

The general rule in English for forming plurals is add -s

cat - cats

piano - pianos

pen - pens

book - books

In Engels gebruiken we nooit ('s) om een woord in het meervoud te maken!!

 Some words that end with (o)

add -es

echo - echoes

tomato - tomatoes

potato - potatoes

mosquito - mosquitoes

torpedo - torpedoes

volcano - volcanoes

Words that end with 

 : ch - sh - ss - s -x -z

: add -es

church - churches

dress - dresses

fox - foxes

Words that end with –y ​

-y becomes i + es

country - countries

 family - families

city - cities

itinerary - itineraries

 Words that end with –f​ /-fe

becomes –v +es

shelf - shelves

wolf - wolves

knife - knives
