What are plurals and how to use them?

Plurals = meervouden

Basic rule

Add an S  to the noun.

For example:

car > cars

chicken > chickens

book > books

boy > boys

Add -es

Some nouns take -es in plural

For example:

bus > busses

box > boxes

hero  > heroes

thief > thieves

Spelling

Sometimes spelling changes in plural

For example:

thief > thieves

city > cities

Irregulars

Some nouns don't follow ANY rule in plural

For example:

deer > deer

woman > women

child > children

ox>oxen
