GENITIVE

genitive

wordt gebruikt, meestal om een bezit aan te duiden:

Nederlands:

Moeders boormachine, vaders auto, Jets tas, etc.

Engels:	Patrick’s family, their client’s wishes, my boss's
	meeting, etc.

 

zelfst nw en namen in enkelvoud:

's komt na het woord : 

Adam's bike,   Sarah's child, The company's profits

Her dress is nice.
My sister's dress is nice.

His bike is new.
My brother's bike is new.

woord (e.v.) dat eindigt op -s

Bij namen in het enkelvoud die eindigen op -s  zet je ook een 's erachter.   

 Chris's car       Thomas's girlfriend

plural nouns

Bij zelfstandige naamwoorden en namen in het meervoud komt de apostrof na de meervoudsvorm. Engelse meervouden eindigen meestal op een -s.
