There is a lot going on in Van der Keuken's photos, which makes choosing the right composition very important. His street photographs have not been staged, so it is important to take the picture at the right moment. Everything in the picture has to support the subject. In 'Quatorze Juilliet', all the elements of the photo are in exactly the right place within the frame. Just follow the red lines in the photo.
The people in the front of the photo together form a triangle and the starting point for the viewer. The centre of this triangle is exactly touching the ladder that comes into the picture from the right-hand side. Above the ladder, on the same line, is a row of people by the water. The space on the left is filled by a number of chairs.

timer
20:00
Take a number of photos in which you draw the viewer's attention into the image by using 'frame in frame'.
Also take a number of shots where you direct the viewer's attention to a focal point by using leading lines. Once again, pay close attention to the frame you choose.
