1. Onrijpe eicellen zitten in eierstok in blaasjes = follikels
   
2. De eicel groeit/neemt voedingsstoffen op en het follikel neemt vocht op
   
3. Na (±) 14 dagen is follikel zo groot dat het knapt (= ovulatie/ eisprong), de eicel komt nu in de eileider terecht.

• Every 4 weeks

• 1 egg at a time

• Alternately from both ovaries

• The egg cannot move

• The egg only lives for 12-24 hours

In case the egg is fertilized, the uterus must prepare itself.

During the maturation of the egg, the uterine lining becomes thicker.

If the egg is not fertilized, this lining will come loose again = menstruation/period

Menstrual cycle

1. Menstruation and egg maturation
   
2. Uterine lining becomes thicker
   
3. Ovulation
   
4. Uterine lining remains thick (due to the corpus luteum)
   
5. Uterine lining is shed --> menstruation

Starts on the first day of menstruation.

A regular cycle lasts 28 days.

On day 14 is ovulation (ovulation)
