Structure of St st lessons 
1. LEX TALK - instruction max. 12 minutes
During this time all students are quiet.

2.Get to work - programme on digital board and on elo
Use laptop/earphones (book optional, may be handy for reading exercises)
Students: may confer with immediate neighbour (whisper!), write name on whiteboard if you have a question for me
Teacher: I will observe, check progress and walk round to help/answer questions

3.End of the lesson: short closure (activity)

CLASSROOM RULES 
  • ACTIVE APPROACH: BINNEN IS BEGINNEN = Enter quietly, sit down according to the seating plan and grab your stuff right away 
  • No phones, eating or drinking allowed (water allowed, no refills of bottles)
  • No talking during instruction time max. 12 min.
  • You may work with immediate neighbour if you can whisper!
  • Cancelled lesson does NOT equal no homework: use your study guide!
  • Limit restroom trips to breaks and class changes
  • Stay seated until the bell rings (you may write your name down on the white board if you need help)

Word Guessing Strategies

  1. synonym or antonym

  2. look at immediate or wider context: there may be a definition or an example that will help you guess the meaning of the word
  3. look at parts of the word you may know: prefix - suffix
  4. use your knowledge of other languages
