Information
There are often conflicts between different cultures and religions. Yet culture or religion in itself is usually not the cause of conflict. This cause is more often due to a combination of an unfair distribution of power and a feeling of disadvantage and poverty.

Information
A dictatorship is often in power in conflict areas. This means that power rests with one person or a small group, such as in Saudi Arabia or in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Sometimes there is a fragile state, a very weak state, such as in Iraq or the Central African Republic. In these countries, the government has virtually no control and there is a lot of corruption, crime and economic chaos.

Information
Many countries are in the middle bracket, such as Peru. There is a democracy here, because the population has the right to vote, but the state does not take good care of all citizens. The interests of the large mining companies take precedence over clean water for the farmers who live around the mines. Protests are met with violence, the press does not dare to write about this openly and the judges are not independent.
