What is a Gerund?

De gerund is een vorm van het werkwoord (stam + ing) die gebruikt wordt als zelfstandig naamwoord.

buying is an example of the gerund

GERUND

We use Gerunds:

1. as the subject (onderwerp) of a sentence 

--> Parking is forbidden here.

2. after prepositions (voorzetsels)

Hoe maak je de gerund?

Werkwoord +ing 

De gerund lijkt dus qua vorm heel erg op de present continuous, maar dan ZONDER een vorm van 'to be'
