Part of the Summer Safety series, this session looks specifically at safety near inland water.

We have designed our Summer Safety lessons so that teachers can pick up and teach a topic to their class with confidence.

We have chosen to use a balance of interactive tools and 'unplugged' creative activities.

This lesson can be used a a stand alone activity or as part of your school's PSHE curriculum.

Learning Objective

At the end of the lesson, you will understand the importance of summer safety, identify common hazards, and know how to stay safe during outdoor activities.

By the end of the lesson, you will be able to:

• Recognise some of the
   dangers of playing near water
  
• Know how to keep
   yourself safe
  
• Know what to do if someone
   gets into difficulty in the water

Introduce the learning objective and explain the importance of staying safe near water.

Drowning Prevention

If someone is drowning, do not jump in to save them. Instead, throw them a floatation device or find an adult to help. Do you know any other drowning prevention tips?
