• Do a warm-up (recap) of past simple and present perfect
• Practice the use of the Past Simple and Present Perfect
• How to form and use them

What's the difference between
Present perfect and Past simple?

Verschil present perfect en past simple

• The past simple is the action of  something that happened in the past.
  
• The present perfect involves an action from the past that is still ongoing in the present or shows a link with the past.

Past Simple

You use the past simple when something happened in the past and is finished.

**Study irregular verbs when working with past simple/Present perfect**

The So as you can see in this slide, most verbs just get -ed behind it. 

Walk becomes walked

Play becomes played 

When we take a closer look at carry and study, we can see that they’ve got a consonant (medeklinker) before the -y, when this is de case the -y changes in -ies. 

Another thing we have to be aware of is that some verbs get a double consonant, like plan and stop. 

Present perfect 

When do you use the present perfect? 

• Something that started in the past and that is still ongoing in the present.
• Past recent events
• Something that started in the past, and you can still see the results in the present/ Unfinished situations

Do you think the portrayal of teenagers as being lazy, violent, reluctant and rowdy in the media influences preteens perception of how they should behave? 

Write a statement on your thoughts about these stereotypes. 

You can write about the type of stereotype you have encountered relevant to of media influence: 

• Use the past simple and present perfect in your sentence

• Explain why some people might think that label is incorrect?
• Explain how people targeted by this stereotype might be affected?
