Conditionals zijn voorwaardelijke zinnen: als dit ..... , dan dat ......

Een conditional sentence bestaat uit twee delen, een hoofdzin en een zinsdeel met if.

Er zijn vier soorten conditionals: zero, first, second, third.

The FIRST conditional

• We use the FIRST conditional  to talk about future events that might take place
• If  you run, you will get there in time.

First conditional

First conditional

If + present simple, will + hele werkwoord

Second conditional 

We use it when the supposition (what we suppose) is contrary to the known fact in the present 

If I were you, I would plant some trees around the house. (But I'm not you)

If I dyed my hair blue, I'd look awful. ( But I am not going to)

Second conditional

if + past simple,

hoofdzin - would+ ww

If I won  $1.000.000, I would quit my job. 

Je gebruikt The First Conditional als iets ...... is om te gebeuren.
