Use: You use the Past Continuous to say that something in the past happened over a period of time.

Form: was / were + verb  + ing

What to watch out for and examples.
Spelling;
- ends with an 'e'  - He was giving me a present and everyone started singing.

- ends with a vowel + consonant, then double the consonant     
   except bij 'w' and 'x'.
    - 2 men were mugging a lady when the police came.

She was lying to the police when they asked if she ran away with the jewelry.
