Modals = hulpwerkwoorden

Must, have to & should:

• zijn alledrie hulpwerkwoorden
• betekenen alle drie 'moeten'
• Na deze hulpwerkwoorden volgt het hele werkwoord,                 bijvoorbeeld:        'I must eat something.'                                                                                                             'You have to go to   school.'

• Op de volgende dia leer je wanneer je welk hulpw.w. gebruikt!

Must / have to / should

• must:
• als je zelf vindt dat iets zou moeten of 
• als je iemand sterk aanraadt iets te doen (niet verplicht!)
• have to:
• als iemand anders vindt dat iets moet (het is verplicht!)
• should:
• om aan te geven dat iemand eigenlijk iets zou moeten doen,
• bijvoorbeeld: advies geven (should) of juist iemand iets afraden (shouldn't)

can / could

can:

kunnen/ in staat zijn om/ mogelijkheid/ toestemming

could:

zou kunnen / beleefd/ formeel/ in de toekomst (niet zeker)
