At the end of the lesson:

• You will be able to develop some ability to speak interactively and fluently 
•  You will be able to have a simple conversation with a client in English

Assignment:

• You are going to role play: having a introductory meeting / conversation with a client 
• Form groups of 2 
• The conversation will be for 2 to 4 minutes 
• You will be given a scenario / casus 

Role Play - Scenario: 

You work/do an internship at a day care center. Tessa has a mild intellectual disability. Her mother Hermien has registered her for day care. Her mother Hermien comes with her to the day care center for an introductory meeting.

You talk to her to get more information about Tessa and give her information about the daytime activities and the state of affairs. Mother Hermien also has a few questions about what you do at the daytime activities and what she can expect.

Translation:

Je werkt /loopt stage op een dagbesteding. Tessa heeft een licht verstandelijke beperking. Haar moeder Hermien heeft haar aangemeld voor de dagbesteding. Haar moeder Hermien komt met haar mee naar de dagbesteding voor een kennismakingsgesprek.

Je gaat met haar in gesprek om meer informatie over Tessa te krijgen en geeft haar informatie over de dagbesteding en de gang van zaken. Moeder Hermien heeft ook nog enkele vragen over wat jullie zoal doen op de dagbesteding en wat ze kan verwachten.

I will be paying attention to:

1. How you start the conversation 
2. If you are asking questions 
3. How you end the conversation
4. How long the conversation took

I will be walking around and paying attention to these points above, if you are finished with your conversation and I have  not heard it you WILL have to do it again!

• What points do you remember to do when you are speaking to a client?
