Disadvantages of the feudal system, that caused a loss of power for the king :
- weak kings allowed the nobles to pass on their territory to their sons automatically after their death. The loan became hereditary
- powerful nobels started to appoint their own vassals. These subvassals of the king were more loyal to their own lord than to the king
