Je gebruikt de Present Continuous om te praten over afspraken in de nabije toekomst waarvan de plaats/tijd al vast staat:

"I am driving to my grandmother's house on Monday."
"My parents are buying a new car tomorrow."

am/is/are + hele werkwoord + ing

Je gebruikt "am/is/are going to" in plaats van de Present Continuous...
- wanneer het gaat om een plan, wat nog NIET vast staat
- voor dingen waar je geen controle over hebt zoals het weer
