• na bepaalde werkwoorden zoals to hate, to stop, to prefer, to like, to enjoy, to avoid, to remember, to refuse, to mind, to keep, to spend 
  vb. My sister avoids cooking large dinners.

Wanneer gebruik je de gerund? 

• als deel van het onderwerp
  
  vb. Reading romance novels became my favorite hobby. 
  
  
• na enkele woorden en uitdrukkingen, zoals to feel like, it's no use, it's worth, there's no, be busy, can't help
  vb. She can't help talking loudly during class. 
  
  

Het kunnen vertalen van deze uitdrukkingen van het Nederlands naar het Engels is een vereiste voor de toets.
