Nationalism; great love for one's country and believing that it is superior to other countries.

People identify with the group that shares their language, history, culture, religion and traditions.

Germany won and called out the German empire in the mirrorroom in Versailles.

France was humiliated and held a grudge ever since.

Wilhelm II wanted to be a superpower with colonies and a large fleet. 

The English had the biggest fleet and Germany became a threat to them.
