2. You can correctly use prefixes and suffixes.

Voorvoegsels

• On is een voorvoegsel. 
• Je zet dit voor een woord om het woord een andere betekenis te geven, in dit geval het tegenovergestelde. 

Voorvoegsel/Prefix 

Een voorvoegsel heet in het Engels prefix. 

Een prefix komt voor een woord. 

Een prefix verandert de betekenis van een woord.

Voorvoegsel

• Een  voorvoegsel zet je voor een woord om het een andere betekenis te geven. 
• Om het tegenovergestelde te zeggen zet je er on voor:
• vriendelijk           onvriendelijk
• prettig                   onprettig

• able              unable: To not be able to do something.
• Example:    She is unable to attend tomorrow's meeting.

• Example:        It's unfair to give you five tests in one week.

Suffixes: Less

• If you put the suffix  LESS at the end of a word, it means without. 

• fear                       fearless: Superman is a fearless man.

Suffixes: ER

• A suffix changes the meaning of a word.
• There are four suffixes: -er, -ful, -less, -ing. 
• If you put the suffix ER at the end of a verb, you show a person's occupation or job. 

• To paint               painter
• To teach              teacher

Suffixes: ful

• If you put the suffix  FUL at the end of a word, you describe a characteristic (eigenschap) of something of someone. 

• colour                  colourful

When the soccorplayer got hurt it looked very ______ (pain).

Suffixes: ING

• If you put the suffix  ing at the end of a word, to descibe a product or action.

• paint                     painting (schilderij)
• build                     building
• walk                      walking

Assignment

• In pairs, write a short 3-4 sentence story using at least two prefixes and two suffixes from the lesson.
• Example: The careless boy lost his toy, so his mom had to reorder a new one. He was unhappy but learned to be more careful next time.
• Pairs share their stories with the class.
