Welcome in your first Maths lesson!

-  my hobbies are: reading, playing chess, sportschool

To get to know each better a little more...

I ask you to

+ mention one more thing about yourself (maybe a hobby,

   or your favorite subject)

+ in your TTO lessons English is the language we use!

+ so I will repeat the previous slide to let you know some words to use!

Let me tell you my view on this:

What is important to me is that:

everybody in the class, including the teacher, feels 

+ good , having your own place (a chair, but also socially)       

+ safe to say things and not being laughed at 

A little more information about myself.

My hearing is not great. On the contrary: I will not hear what is

said in our lessons.

Now and then I will ask you to repeat what you said.

Doing a good job as a teacher will only be possible with your 

help!

As a result ...

I expect you to 

1.  work quietly, no loud talking, maybe whispering to your neighbour

2.  speak clearly, when talking to me or to somebody else

    Why this?

    Grids are helpful for drawings.

    The A4 size is good for bigger maths drawings.

This year you will learn

                                           a  lot of math!

I look at it this way:

It is not important to be good at maths.

It is important to get better at maths!

Because that means that you are learning.

I hope all of you get good marks.

However in order to get good marks you have to 

do good work!

In the coming lessons it will become more clear how to do this.

Open your Mathsbook 1A on page 8/9. Let's read it together.

After this §1.1 on p.10-13 is due (= aan de beurt).

We will go through the content rather slowly.
