ADJECTIVES (bijvoeglijk naamwoord) zegt iets over een zelfstandig naamwoord.

ADJECTIVES:
  • An awful song.
  • The song was awful. (na een vorm van "to be")
  • That looked awful. (na 'to look')

ADVERB (bijwoord) zegt iets over:
  1. een werkwoord
  2. een bijvoeglijk naamwoord
  3. een bijwoord
  4. een hele zin

ADJECTIVES kunnen worden afgeleid van ADVERBS door de uitgang -ly aan het betreffende ADJECTIVE toe te voegen.
  • He wrote a beautiful book (adjective, over zijn 'book')
  • He wrote beautifully (adverb, over 'write')
  • Her skin is smooth (adjective, na 'to be')
  • The car drove smoothly (adverb, over 'drive')

ADJECTIVES kunnen worden afgeleid van ADVERBS door de uitgang -ly aan het betreffende ADJECTIVE toe te voegen.
  • Her complexion looked natural. (adj, na 'look')
  • Naturally, he didn't use their bathroom. (adverb, hele zin)
  • He is a real bully. (adjective, over 'bully')
  • He is a really sweet guy. (adverb, over 'sweet')

  • Adjective GOOD wordt WELL (It's a good car. It drives well)
