Sample 1 (168 words) see paper
The day everything changed started like, any other, until a surprise showed up on John’s doorstep. It was his neighbour who was in urgent need of someone to accompany him for a visit to the zoo. John was baffled, but at the same time excited by his neighbour’s spontaneous request.

An hour later at the zoo, things started to take a turn for the worst. What seemed like a fun and exciting day at the Zoo, soon got really strange. His neighbour forgot to mention the real reason why he had invited John, he needed an accomplice.
John’s Neighbor jumped inside the cage of the monkeys and said to John: ”You’ll be the lookout!”. For what exactly wasn’t clear yet. John’s neighbor picked a fight with one of the monkeys and within a minute security came and detained them until the police arrived.

In the end John and his neighbor who was missing a few teeth by now, both got fined and never spoke to each other again.

Sample 2 (181 words)
The day everything changed started like any other, until a surprise showed up on John’s doorstep. When John opened the door to go to work he was shocked to see a baby crocodile in front of the door. John immediately called me because I’m very good with animals and he didn't know what to do.

He looked very hungry and tired so we had to come up with something, so that the baby crocodile came home again. I immediately thought of the zoo so we wanted to drive to the zoo with the baby crocodile.

But first we had to catch him and put him safely in a cage. Fortunately, John still had a cat cage. But the problem was that we first had to catch the crocodile gently and that went very difficult at first, but after a while it was successful.

So we drove to the zoo because we thought the crocodile escaped because we saw it on the news. The crocodile started acting really angry so we had to drive fast, and that’s why I got this fine.

An hour later at the zoo, things started to take a turn for the worst. Unfortunately (2), what seemed like a fun and exciting day at the zoo, soon got really strange. His neighbour had forgotten to mention the real reason why he had invited John, he had needed an accomplice. John’s neighbour quickly (3) jumped inside the crowded (1) cage of the monkeys and said to John: ”You’ll be the lookout!” For what exactly wasn’t clear yet. John’s neighbour picked a fight with one of the monkeys and within a minute security came and detained them until the police arrived.

In the end, both men were fined and escorted home. John’s neighbour, now missing two teeth, tried to explain his grand plan to “liberate” the monkeys. John tuned him out, wondering how an ordinary day had turned into madness.
