Bijvoegelijke naamwoorden

Zeggen iets over een zelfstandig naamwoord (een woord waar je 'the, a of an' voor kan zetten) of over personen en dieren.

• The careful driver, the angry teacher, a beautiful dress

• This job is boring / interesting / tiring / annoying 
• I am bored / interested / tired / annoyed

Of achter de werkwoorden:  be / feel / look / taste / sound / smell / seem

Bijwoorden

- Zeggen iets over werkwoorden, bijvoegelijke naamwoorden, 
   en andere woorden (alles behalve zelfstandige naamwoorden)

    She drove carefully, it rained heavily,
    Incredibly quickly, surprisingly easy

- Bijwoorden maak je door -ly achter het bijvoeglijk naamwoord te zetten  (quick > quickly, careful > carefully)

Uitzonderingen

- Een aantal bijwoorden maak je niet met -ly: 
   good > well          the good dog, you did well
   fast > fast             the fast car, he ran fast                 ('hardly' =
   hard > hard          the hard test, he tried hard          nauwelijks)
