and words that say something about verbs:

before the noun:
cold water
Or inanother place when used with to be or other linking verbs:
The water is cold
The water feels cold
The water seems cold
The water appears cold
The water smells cold

How to make an adverb out of an adjective
just add: -ly at the end

besides this there are irregulars:
good - well
fast - fast
hard - hard
long - long
low - low

and watch out for these three.
They change meaning when added ly at the end:
hard- hard/hardly = barely( nauwelijks, bijna niet)
He ran hard/he ran hardly
near - near / nearly = almost( bijna)
He was near that place/ he was nearly there
late - late / lately = recently
He arrived late (briefje dus)/ he arrived lately
