Linking words

We use linking words 
to join  sentences / ideas together 
when we're talking or writing.

Why do you think learning to debate controversial topics is important?

Often in life you will come across situations where it's important to be able to discuss difficult topics in a well spoken and measured manner. This can be difficult sometimes since emotions often come in to play. It's also important to have the vocabulary (woordenschat) to be able to successfully have these conversations.
Furthermore, discussing controversial topics helps you to learn to live and work together peacefully and respectfully with people with different backgrounds and lifestyles
