Citizens:
Patricians
: rich, powerful men (can vote AND be elected in the senate)
Patricians had big villas and a lot of land. They did not work, but they had slaves to work their land.
Plebeians
(plebs): ordinary men (can vote, but not be elected)
Plebeians were the workforce of Rome. They built houses, temples, roads, made food, clothes, etc.
