Some and any
Some and any are used to describe:

Indefinite quantities
(onbepaalde hoeveelheid)

And both of them mean the same:
A number, a few, etc.

For example
I need some eggs.
He doesn't have any eggs.
Do you need any eggs?
Can I have some eggs, please?

So when do we use "some"?
In a regular / positive sentence, we use "some":

"I invited some friends."
"Let's watch some TV."

When do we use "any"?
In a negative sentence, when we want to deny something --> we use "any":

"I don't want any balloons at my party."

"We haven't received  any good news this year."

Questions
You have to pay extra attention to questions when using some or any.

If you have a question and you have NO idea what the answer will be, you use: "Any"

If you ask a question and you can already assume that the answer will be YES, you use: "Some"

Examples
"Is there any milk in the fridge?"
We used "any", because we don't know what the answer will be.

"Do you want some cake?"
We used "some", because we can assume what the answer will be --> yes!
