Make a transition word gap fill
What: Make a transition word gap fill exercise with 5 sentences and a multiple choice selection of answers for a partner to fill in. 
How: Select 5 different transition words from the list.  Write 5 sentences using these different transition words.  Leave a gap where the transition word should be.  Create an answer key/multiple choice of answers per sentence.   Write (neatly) or type out your 5 sentences.
Why: So you can show you know how to use transition words correctly in a sentence and you can test your own knowledge and that of a classmate

When the pear compares and contrasts himself with the apple....
The apple and I share some similarities, such as we are both fruits and likewise, we are both white on the inside.  There are however, also some differences.  On the one hand the apple is considered to be healthier fruit to eat but on the other hand I am also quite a nutritious snack. And, as such, to compensate for being slightly less nutritious, it could be said that I have a much better waistline than the bubble shaped apple.
