Modal verbs
There are several modal verbs:
can - could - have to - should 

You don't change the form of a modal verb. 
Exception: have to

I have to - He/She/It has to - We/You/They have to

Have to
  • When you talk about obligations. There is no choice.
  • Example: We have to fill out this form first.

Should
  • When you want to give an advice/ tip.
  • Example: You should eat something.

Can
  • When you talk about what people/ animals/ things can do.
  • When you ask for permission.
  • Example: Can you call me back in a few minutes?
Could
  • What people/ animals/ things could do in the past.
  • What is possible.
  • Example: She could cycle to school instead of taking the bus.
