'If' + 'would' for imaginary situations

Look at the sentences. These sentences all describe situations that are not real / imaginary.

               - "If I had a ticket, I'd come with you."

           - "If you worked hard, you'd pass your exam."- "You'd get bored if you did the same thing everyday."

The 'If' clause can come before AND after the 'Would' clause.

               - "If I had a ticket, I'd come with you."

           - "If you worked hard, you'd pass your exam."

- "You'd get bored if you did the same thing everyday."

Remember

We often use If I were for giving advice.

"If I were you, I'd go to the hospital."
"If I were you, I'd buy a new one."

"I'd do more exercise if I were you."

*This is the only time it is correct to use I with were.
