The rules:

Something happened and is still going, has impact or is visible:
I've been here since the third period.                                         --> Since, for, in
She's drank too much. That's why she has a hangover.        --> Result
They've just painted their fence.                                                  --> just, yet, lately

1. As the subject: "Singing is fun."

2. After verbs as love, hate, stop, start.: "I love dancing."
"They stopped seeing each other."

3. After prepositions (voorzetsels): "She is fond of writing"

4. After certain expressions: "That film is worth seeing!'
