Gebruik: Wanneer iets in het verleden is gebeurd en het belangrijk is wanneer het is gebeurd.

Signaalwoorden: last year/month/year, 5 years ago, in 2012, this morning.

Vervoeging:
Regular verbs            ww + -ed                                       walk - walked, visit - visited
Irregular verbs          own form (pp.149-150)           go - went, swim - swam

Present perfect
Je gebruikt de present perfect als je wilt zeggen dat:
1. iets is gebeurd en het niet belangrijk is wanneer.
2. iets in het verleden is begonnen en nog steeds doorgaat. Signaalwoorden: for, in en since.
3. iets in het verleden is gebeurd waarvan je nu het resultaat ziet.
4. iets net of nog niet gebeurd is. Signaalwoorden: just, lately , recently en yet.
