Was the only son of King Henry VIII and Jane Seymour
Never actually ruled individually because of his age (9 years old) and was mostly ruled by powerful men in court.
Didn't want Mary to succeed him, but he had no heirs.

Mary I (1553 – 1558)

Refused to marry and died at 69 ("the virgin queen)

Elizabethan age
England was enjoying its greatest literary and art period: the Renaissance.

James VI/I (1603-1625)

Slide 23 - Slide

James VI/I (1603-1625)
  • Mary Stuart's son who was already King of Scotland took over the English throne (James I of England).
