De present simple en present continuous zijn allebei tegenwoordige tijden.

Er zit verschil in wanneer je welke moet gebruiken.

Als het goed is kun je nu wat beter de present simple toepassen.

We gaan nu door met de present continuous.

Present continuous
The present continuous is used for things that are going on RIGHT NOW ( at this moment/ today ) 


You make the present continuous with:
am, is, are (hulpwerkwoord 'to be') verb- ing
ex. She is working in the garden right now.

How do you know when to use the continuous?
Pay attention to signal words in the sentence:
- right now
- at the moment
- Look! / Listen! (do you see that? / do you hear that?)
- etc.

EXCEPTION 1:

sometimes the spelling of the present continuous changes.
 If the verb  ends in:
> love: - e + -ing -->  loving
      (! see --> seeing & be --> being)

EXCEPTION 2: 

For verbs where the last syllable is stressed (CLAP) and a short vowel (a,e,o,u,i), the last consonant doubles.
chat --> chatting. 
put --> putting.
