Verb patterns 3
We can categorise multi-word verbs into 4 categories based on 2 axis:

Transitive / Intransitive
&
Separable / inseparable

Transitive verbs

Have a direct object


I'm going to cut down on fast food this year
Intransitive verbs

Do not have a direct object


I wake up at 5:00 AM every day

Seperable multi-word verbs

You can put the direct object inbetween the verb

Please turn the tv off
inseperable multi-word verbs

You cannot put the direct object inbetween the verb


I'll look after your cat
I'll look your cat after

Note:
We always seperate our multi-word verb if the direct object is a pronoun

Can you take him out?

And never when the direct object is really long

Please keep the noise that you're making at your party down!

Note down the multi-word verb(s) for each sentence and write down whether they're (in)transitive and (in)seperable
