De warmte wordt gedeeltelijk teruggekaatst in de atmosfeer
Broeikasgassen houden een deel van de teruggekaatste warmte tegen 
LET OP: dit is het natuurlijke broeikaseffect. Belangrijk, want zonder de broeikasgassen (co2, methaan, etc.) zou het gemiddeld -18 zijn op aarde = onleefbaar
