Pre-reading
  • Do you know the names of famous DJs?
  •  Why do Dutch DJs often speak English at work?
  • Would you like to be a DJ, if so, what would you have to learn first?

Slide 3 - Slide

Skimming
When you skim a text, you quickly let your eyes go over it to get a general idea of what the text is about. You can use titles, headings and pictures to find out what the message of a text is. Looking for things that stand out, suchs as words in bold, or in a special colour also helps.

Slide 4 - Slide

Look at the DJ Boot Camp text p.51
Skim the text.
  • Wat voor soort tekst is dit?
  • Wat is het doel van deze tekst?
  • Wat voor soort informatie kun je lezen in het tekstdeel vóór het tijdschema?

Slide 5 - Slide

Scanning
When you are looking for specific information you don't have to read the whole text. You can scan the text. This means you look at titles, headings and pictures first. They will help you find the information quickly.

Slide 6 - Slide

Look up the answer...
  • Who is the DJ Boot Camp for?
  • What do you learn at the DJ boot camp?
  • When is it?
  • Where is it?
  • How much does it cost?
  • How do you sign up?
