What is India?
  •  India is the seventh-largest country in the world.
  • It is located at the very bottom of Asia.
  • The capital New Delhi and the city of Mumbai are fine examples of the urban side of the country and  are considered as great metropoles.
  • Climate: subtropical in the north and tropical in the center and south. the climate in India is affected by the monsoons , with a dry and a rainy season.
  • India has the second most inhabitants in the world after China. (1.2 billion inhabitants)

Hindi is the official language of India. Next to Hindi India  recognises 21 other official languages. For example: Bengali, Nepalese, Maithili, ...

Metropole: the main city in a country or region 
 Inhabitants: the number of people living in a certain country, city, region, ...
Monsoon: A monsoon is a shift in winds that often causes a very rainy season or a very dry season. Although monsoons are usually associated with parts of Asia, they can happen in many tropical and subtropical regions – including several locations in the United States
Subtropical: belonging to or relating to parts of the world that are immediately south or north of the tropics (= the hottest areas) and have very hot weather at some times of the year
Urban: related to a city
