Past perfect continuous: Used for an action that was happening over a period of time before another action in the past.
They had been studying for years when they took the exam.
Present perfect continuous
for actions that started in the past and continue up until now.
Sam's been studying Greek since last June
Future Perfect Continuous
to talk about how long things have been happening by a certain time in the future.
Next month he will have been working at the school for 25  years
